Pre-Season Outlook
The Jets coveted Corley, trading up for the first pick of Round 3 (65th) to draft him this April. He was targeted more than 100 times in each of his last three seasons at Western Kentucky, averaging 84.3 catches for 990 yards and 9.7 TDs. Corley mostly caught short passes, but he often turned them into big plays with his agile and powerful running after the catch. His 4.56 40-yard dash time creates questions about whether that skill will translate to the NFL, though his RB-like physique (5-11, 215) perhaps makes the mediocre 40 time less concerning. With Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams locked in as starters, Corley will need to secure the No. 3 role during training camp to see a reasonable number of targets early in the season. 2023 UDFA Xavier Gipson was the No. 3 receiver for much of last season and caught only 21 passes for 229 yards, but it could be a higher-volume role if Corley proves himself worthy.

Analysis: Hughes notes that Corley walked with a limp after the incident, giving another hint that the rookie won't return to practice Wednesday. The injury doesn't sound especially serious, as a player typically would stay inside rather than joining his teammates to watch the rest of practice if there were concern about a major health issue. With Mike Williams (knee) unavailable for offseason practices, the Jets seem to have a wide-open depth chart at receiver behind No. 1 option Garrett Wilson. Coming…read more
